Step 1: Preparation

Once you've determined that the stain is definitely caused by feces, it's best to take the scarf off and lay it flat on a clean surface. If possible, cover the stained area with plastic wrap or paper towels.

Step 2: Scrape Away Excess Feces

Using a dull knife or spoon, carefully scrape away any excess feces from the stain. Be careful not to spread the stain further, as this will make it more difficult to clean.

Step 3: Apply Detergent Directly to the Stain

Mix a small amount of detergent with warm water and use a clean cloth or sponge to blot the stain with the mixture. Allow the detergent solution to stay on the stain for about 10 minutes before rinsing the scarf with cold water.

Step 4: Rinse and Repeat (if Necessary)

If the stain still remains, mix a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water and apply it directly to the stained area. Let it sit for another 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Repeat this process as necessary until the stain has been removed.

Step 5: Dry the Scarf

Once the stain has been removed, it's time to dry the scarf. To prevent shrinking, avoid wringing or twisting the fabric — instead, lay it flat on a towel and let it air dry. Additionally, ironing the scarf can help set the stain so that it won't reappear.
