Before you tackle a stain, you need to know what type of stain it is. If the feces isn't solid, then it's likely an organic stain such as proteins, fats, or carbohydrates. For these types of stains, a pre-treatment with a specialized stain remover is often necessary before attempting to wash the garment.
If stain is solid, it will require a different approach. According to The Spruce , it's best to scrape off any excess debris with a dull object such as a butter knife or plastic spoon. Then, blot area with a damp cloth to absorb any remaining moisture.
Once you've removed any excess matter, pre-treat the stain with a special enzymatic pet stain remover or a mixture of water and laundry detergent. It's important to let the solution soak into fabric for at least 10 minutes before washing.
Now it's time to actually wash the item. It may be tempting to use hot water for a formidable stain, but this can actually cause damage to fabric. Instead, opt for cold water and a gentle detergent. Wash the item on the lowest setting possible and let it air dry afterwards.
