Removing Feces Stains Without Washing Machine

  1. Start by scraping off any solid matter with a paper towel or rag. Make sure you’re wearing gloves throughout the process.
  2. Fully submerge the affected area into a bucket full of cold water and then lightly scrub the area with a cloth or soft-bristled brush.
  3. Mix some mild detergent and baking soda together in a bowl and rub it on the stained area.
  4. Once you’ve applied detergent and baking soda, let them sit for about 5 minutes.
  5. Rinse the soapy residue off with cold water and repeat steps two and three on any remaining stains.
  6. Allow the overalls to dry and if the stains are still visible, try repeating the entire process one more time.

Removing Feces Stains With a Washing Machine

  1. Scrape off the dried feces as best you can. Wear gloves throughout the process.
  2. Dilute 1 tablespoon of laundry detergent with a half-gallon (2 liters) of cold water and stir until it becomes sudsy.
  3. Soak the overalls in the detergent solution for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Put your overalls in the washing machine with a regular load of laundry and add a half cup of white vinegar to the wash.
  5. Set the washer for a gentle or slow cycle and select either warm or cold water depending on your fabric’s suggested wash setting.
  6. After the cycle is finished, check if the stains are fully removed. If not, repeat the washing instructions.

Additional Tips

  • For tougher stains, you can try one of the many stain removers available for purchase in stores.
  • It’s important to always use cold water when washing your overalls as hot water can cause colors to fade or become discolored.
  • As a preventive measure, make sure to always keep overalls away from any areas where feces might occur.
