If the midi dress is dry-clean only, then you will need to take the dress to a professional dry cleaner. If the dress is machine washable, then you’ll need to prepare the dress for cleaning. Make sure to use cold water and gentle detergent to prevent further staining or damage to the fibers.
Before washing the dress, pre-treat the feces stain with either laundry detergent or an enzyme-based cleaner. Use a soft cloth to gently rub cleaner into the stained area and let it sit for 10 minutes. This should help to break up the stain and make it easier to remove when you wash it.
After the pre-treatment, put the midi dress in the washing machine with any other laundry items that require cold water. Use the gentle cycle and mild detergent, and run the wash two times if necessary. If possible, use a color-safe bleach or solution to help remove the stain. After the laundering, hang the dress to air dry. Do not put the dress in the dryer, since this could set stain.
Once the midi dress is dry, inspect stain to see if it has been removed. If the stain is still visible, repeat the pre-treat and wash processes until the stain is gone. Keep in mind that some stains may never come out completely, but the aim is to make them as unnoticeable as possible.
If stain is gone, finish up by running midi dress through an extra rinse cycle with cold water and a tablespoon of white vinegar. This will help to get rid of any remaining residue and any lingering odours. The dress should now be ready to wear again!
