The first step in cleaning a feces stain is to pre-treat the stain before machine washing. Start by dabbing a few drops of liquid detergent directly onto the soiled area. Then, use a soft-bristled brush to gently rub the detergent into the fabric. You don’t want to scrub too hard – just enough to work the detergent into the fabric. Leave the detergent to sit for about 5 minutes, then rinse it off with cold water.
Once the pre-treatment is done, you can now machine wash the item. Use a mild detergent, such as one specifically made for delicate fabrics, and make sure the water temperature is set to a cool or warm setting. After washing, inspect fabric to make sure the feces stain has been removed.
If the stain persists after machine washing, you may need to hand wash the item. Fill up a sink with lukewarm water and dissolve a small amount of liquid detergent in it. Dip the item into the water and use a soft-bristled brush to gently scrub the soiled area. Don’t scrub too hard – just enough to work the detergent into the fabric. When the stain has been removed, rinse the item with cold water.
After the item is washed, let it air dry or use a tumble dryer on a low setting. It is important to not dry the item on high heat, as this can cause the stain to set permanently.
Removing a feces stain from mesh fabric doesn’t have to be a daunting task. With the right supplies and a little bit of patience, you can easily restore your fabric to its original glory. Just remember to pre-treat, machine wash, hand wash (if needed), and then dry the item.
