Step 1: Blot or scrape the stain

The first step in removing a feces stain is to take a paper towel and blot or scrape the area. Do not rub or scrub as this can cause damage to fabric. If the stain is stubborn, you may need to use specific stain remover.

Step 2: Pretreat the stain

Next, pretreat the stain with a mild laundry soap. Using an up-and-down motion, gently massage the soap into the stained area. Let it sit for at least 5 minutes before attempting to wash.

Step 3: Wash the garment

Once stain has been pretreated, it’s time to wash the garment as usual. Be sure to use a gentle cycle and cold water. It’s best to use a detergent specifically designed for Merino wool since it’s a delicate fabric.

Step 4: Dry the garment

After washing, thoroughly dry the garment. Place the garment in the dryer on lowest setting possible. If you’re worried about shrinkage, you can also air dry the garment.

Step 5: Inspect the garment

After the garment has been thoroughly dried, inspect to make sure the stain has been removed. If the stain is still visible, repeat the Steps 1-4 until the stain is completely gone.
