Pre-Treat Stains

Before you begin the washing process, pretreat the stain by mixing a few drops of liquid detergent into some cold water and dabbing it on the affected area. Use light strokes and be sure not to rub fabric, as this could make the stain worse. Next, apply hydrogen peroxide to the area and let it sit for a few minutes. Finally, rinse the fabric with cold water before you continue to the next step.

Wash Clothes in Cold Water

For best results, wash your maxi dress in cold water on a gentle cycle. Add a scoop of laundry detergent to the water, but be sure not to add any fabric softener or bleach as this could make the stain worse. After cycle has finished, hang maxi dress up and let it air dry.

Oxygen Bleach

If stain is still present after washing in cold water, you can treat area with oxygen bleach. Mix the powder with warm water and apply it directly onto the affected area. Leave the mixture for a few hours and then rinse the fabric with cold water. Finally, hang maxi dress up and let it air dry.

Seek Professional Help

If all else fails, you may need to seek professional help. Contact a dry cleaner and explain the situation. They will likely have special products and techniques that they can use to help remove the stain.
