Unfortunately, accidents do happen—so what can you do if unfortunate circumstances lead to feces ending up on your lace?

Fortunately, there are several methods you can use to remove feces stains from lace, depending on the type of material it's made from. Read on to learn more.

Removing Feces Stains from Cotton or Man-Made Lace

  • Start by blotting the affected area with a clean cloth to remove as much of loose feces as possible.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of liquid detergent with 1 cup of cold water.
  • Using a clean sponge, dip it into the detergent solution. Gently dab at affected area, making sure not to scrub too hard.
  • Rinse out detergent with cold water, then pat area dry with a clean cloth.
  • If necessary, repeat the entire process until the stain is gone.

Removing Feces Stains from Silk or Wool Lace

  • Start by blotting affected area with a cloth, removing as much of the loose feces as possible.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of mild laundry detergent with 1 cup of cold water.
  • Dip a clean sponge into the detergent solution and gently dab at the affected area.
  • Rinse the detergent out with cold water, and pat the area dry with a clean cloth.
  • If necessary, repeat the entire process.

Remember: never try to remove feces from lace with hot water, as this could cause shrinkage or discoloration. Additionally, you should always test any detergent solution on a small, inconspicuous area of the fabric first to make sure it won't damage the lace.
