Kimonos are stunning traditional garments often used for formal occasions and ceremonies in Japan. Keeping your kimono clean is essential for maintaining its beautiful appearance, however it’s common to come across unexpected stains from time to time.
Feces stains can be particularly unpleasant, as well as difficult to remove depending on the material of the kimono. To help you keep your kimono clean, follow these 3 simple steps:
The first step to removing a feces stain is to gently and carefully remove any remaining pieces of feces with a tissue or paper towel. Take care not to spread the stain further while doing this.
Next, pre-treat the area with dishwashing detergent. You’ll want to be careful when using this method so you don’t damage the delicate fabric of the kimono. When applying the dishwashing detergent, move it gently around the area and avoid vigorously rubbing it onto the fabric.
Finally, soak the area in cold water for about 15-20 minutes. This will help to loosen stain before washing the kimono. Once the area has been soaked, rinse the stain with cold water and then launder the kimono according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
By following these steps, you’ll have the best chance of successfully removing the feces stain from your kimono.
