What You'll Need
- Enzyme-based laundry detergent
- Soft brush
- Bleach (optional)
- Hair dryer (optional)
Steps for Removing Feces Stains From Shoes
- If the feces is fresh, try and scoop up as much as you can before attempting to clean.
- Mix a solution of the enzyme-based laundry detergent and water. Dip soft brush in the solution and use it to lightly scrub the shoe.
- Rinse the shoe with water and allow it to dry completely. Repeat if necessary.
- For tougher stains, mix one tablespoon of bleach with one cup of water. Scrub the stain with the mixture and rinse with water.
- If you have a more stubborn stain, after applying the bleach solution try blowing the shoe with a hairdryer. Make sure the temperature is not too hot so you don’t damage the shoe. Allow the area to cool down and repeat bleach solution application.
Tips
- Always read label of your cleaning products to make sure they are suitable for the fabric you are cleaning.
- It is important to keep shoes away from direct sunlight as this can lead to fading or discoloration.
- Always test the cleaning solution on a small inconspicuous spot before tackling the entire shoe.
- Air dry the cleaned shoes rather than placing them in dryer.
