Step 1: Get Necessary Supplies

Before beginning, make sure you have everything you will need. This includes a washing machine, enzyme detergent, white vinegar, baking soda, laundry pre-treatment stain remover, and clean white cloths.

Step 2: Pre-treat Stain with Enzyme Detergent

Start by applying some enzyme detergent to the stain. Gently rub it into the fabric with a soft brush. Let the detergent sit for at least 15 minutes.

Step 3: Wash on Hot Setting with White Vinegar

Once the time is up, place the garment in the washing machine on a hot setting. Add a cup of white vinegar to the drum and wash as usual. The heat from the water and the vinegar helps break down the proteins in the feces, making it easier to remove.

Step 4: Rinse Garment with Baking Soda

Once cycle is complete, take garment out and rinse in cold water. Then add a half-cup of baking soda to the rinse cycle. This helps neutralize odors and deodorizes the fabric.

Step 5: Treat With Stain Remover and Repeat Washing

Let the garment soak for five minutes before adding a laundry pre-treatment stain remover. Follow the manufacturer’s directions for use. Place the garment in the wash again on a hot setting, adding one-half cup of white vinegar to the drum. Once the cycle is complete, hang up the garment to dry.
