Start by testing an inconspicuous area of fabric with a mild detergent to make sure it won’t affect the fabric’s color or texture. Once you’ve determined the detergent is safe to use, mix it with cold water and a few drops of white vinegar in a bucket, making sure to stir the mixture until the detergent is dissolved.

Dip a clean white cloth into the mixture and wring it out until it’s just damp. Gently press this cloth onto the stained area and allow it to sit for about 5 minutes. This will help to loosen up stain so that it becomes easier to remove. After the 5 minutes are up, dab the cloth onto the stain and rinse the spot with cold water.

If the stain remains, create a paste using either baking soda or cornstarch mixed with a small amount of water. Spread the paste over the stain, making sure it is completely covered. Allow the paste to sit for 10-15 minutes before rubbing it off with a damp cloth. For more stubborn stains, mix equal parts hydrogen peroxide and liquid dish soap and apply it directly to the affected area. Leave it to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it with cold water.

Finally, hang the fabric in a shaded area and leave it to air-dry naturally. Do not place the fabric in a dryer as this may cause the stain to permanently set into the fabric.
