It’s not clean or pleasant, but removing feces stains from fleece is an unavoidable part of life. Whether it’s result of pet accidents, an unexpected potty-training slip up, or anything else, these stains can be difficult to remove and may make you think your garment is ruined forever.

But don’t despair! We’ve put together a step-by-step guide on how to clean feces stains from fleece that will help you save your clothing. Read on to find out more!

Step 1: Blot Out Stains

The first step in removing fecal stains from fleece is to blot away as much of the solid material as possible. Use a paper towel or an absorbent cloth to press onto stain until as much of debris has been lifted out. Be sure to work from the outside of the stain inward so that you don’t spread it further into fabric.

Step 2: Pre-Treat with Detergent

Once you’ve blotted the excess material away, it’s time to pre-treat stain with a laundry detergent. Its enzymes will help break down the stain, making it easier to remove. Apply a small amount of detergent directly to the stain and gently rub it in with a cloth or soft brush.

Step 3: Soak in Warm Water

The next step is to soak your fleece in warm water to help loosen any remaining stain particles. Make sure the water is warm but not hot, as too-high temperatures can set stain and make it harder to remove.

Step 4: Rinse with Cold Water

When you’ve finished soaking, rinse stained area with cold water to help remove any remaining residue. Be sure to run it under the faucet for a few minutes to ensure that all traces of the stain are gone.

Step 5: Treat with White Vinegar

White vinegar is known for its natural cleaning powers, and it can also help remove feces stains from fleece. Create a mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts water, then apply it directly to the stained area. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing with cool water.

Step 6: Launder as Usual

Once you’ve removed as much of the stain as possible, you can go ahead and wash the fleece as usual. But be sure to use a mild detergent and the gentle cycle to avoid further damaging the fabric.

Step 7: Air-Dry

Finally, once you’ve washed the fleece in the washing machine, let it air-dry to minimize any shrinkage or color fading. Once it’s completely dry, check for any remaining stains and repeat the process if necessary.

Now You Know How to Clean Feces Stains from Fleece

With this seven-step guide, your fleece items should now look as good as new! Regularly cleaning your garments will help keep them free from stains and looking fresh for longer.
