Step 1: Collect Materials

Before you start cleaning, collect materials such as a paper towel, laundry detergent, and a bucket filled with warm water and bleach. Preparing the materials before you start can save you time.

Step 2: Use a Paper Towel

Once you have gathered your materials, take a paper towel and gently blot the stain to remove any excess liquid. Once the foul smell has gone, discard the paper towel in the garbage.

Step 3: Put Detergent on Stain

Once you have absorbed the liquid, apply a small amount of laundry detergent directly onto the stain. Then use a cloth to gently rub the detergent into the fabric. Work in a circular motion, wiping away any remaining stain.

Step 4: Soak in Water and Bleach

The next step is to soak the flannel in a bucket of warm water and bleach for around 30 minutes. While this is not necessary for all stains, it can help to reduce any remaining odor.

Step 5: Wash and Dry

Once the material is soaked, take it out and place it in the washing machine. Make sure to wash item on its own in cold water, as hot water can set the stain. Finally, dry the item in the dryer and inspect the result.
