Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain

Pre-treating your item before laundering is the key to success when it comes to removing feces stains from cotton voile. Start by blotting away as much of the mess as possible; use a clean, white cloth or paper towels to do this. Be sure to avoid rubbing or scrubbing at stain, or it may set permanently.

Once you’ve done that, mix one tablespoon of liquid dish detergent per quart of warm water, and apply it to the stained area with a soft cloth. Gently work the solution into fabric, using a circular motion. Let the pre-treatment sit on the clothing for 10-15 minutes before proceeding to next step.

Step 2: Launder the Item

Once you’ve allowed the pre-treatment to soak into fabric for 10-15 minutes, it’s time to launder the piece. Place the item in your washing machine, and use the hottest setting appropriate for the fabric. Add the appropriate amount of detergent and half a cup of distilled white vinegar, then start the cycle.

Once cycle is complete, examine the spot to see if any stain remains. If it does, repeat Steps 1 and 2 – the pre-treatment and laundering – until the spot is thoroughly removed.

Step 3: Remove Excess Amounts of Feces

If you have a larger stain that extends past the limits of the fabric’s colorfastness (the point at which colors bleed together upon contact with water or laundering), such as a large amount of feces, you will need to take additional steps for removal. Begin by scooping away any excess material with a spoon or spatula. Then, rinse the garment in cool water.

If the stain persists, apply a paste made from equal parts liquid laundry detergent, hydrogen peroxide, and baking soda. Let the paste sit for 30 minutes before rinsing, and repeat as needed until all signs of the stain are eradicated.

Conclusion

Soaking and laundering your item of clothing is key to removing feces stains from cotton voile. No matter how daunting the task may seem, you can get rid of the stain by following these simple steps. With the right materials and equipment, you can have your garment looking good as new in no time!
