How to Safely and Easily Remove Feces Stains from Outerwear
Accidents and mishaps happen, and there’s no way to prevent these occurrences completely. When that accident involves fecal matter on clothing, it can be a challenge to remove the stain. Fortunately, there are several steps you can take to help get the stain out of the fabric without damaging the item.

Tools You Will Need
- Rubber gloves
- Old towels
- White vinegar
- Borax powder
- Laundry detergent
- Plastic scraper/spoon
Instructions on How to Remove Feces Stains from Clothing
- Put on rubber gloves to protect yourself from any bacteria that may be present in the feces.
- Carefully remove as much of solid material as possible. Use a plastic spoon or scraper to lift the material away from the fabric.
- Blot the area with an absorbent cloth or paper towel to remove any remaining liquid from the clothing. Do not rub the material, as this could spread the stain further.
- If the stain is fresh, spray area with white vinegar and let sit for about 15 minutes.
- Mix a solution of one teaspoon Borax and two teaspoons of laundry detergent with a quart of warm water. Dip a cloth into the mixture and begin to lightly dab the stained area. Be sure to keep stained area damp with the solution while gently rubbing the stain.
- Once the stain has been removed, rinse the fabric in cold water. Hang garment up to air dry.
