When it comes to cleaning feces stains from your clogs, the first step is to identify what type of feces you’re dealing with. You’ll want to pay attention to whether it’s human or animal waste, as this will determine how you can best attack stain.
For human waste, you’ll want to start by gently scraping the surface of the clog with a soft sponge or cloth. Be sure to use plenty of warm, soapy water and be gentle in order to avoid damaging the material. This should help remove any solid matter left behind.
Once you’ve scraped away any solids, you’ll want to apply a cleaning solution to the area. Try using a 3-to-1 mixture of hydrogen peroxide and warm water. Let this sit for a few minutes before rinsing with plenty of warm water. This solution should help remove any stubborn stains and odor. For extra tough stains, try repeating the process.
For animal waste, you’ll want to start by removing any solids left behind. You can then use a cleaning solution made up of one part bleach and two parts warm water. Let this solution sit for about five minutes before rinsing with warm water. Repeat if necessary.
Now that you’ve removed the stain, it’s time to deodorize your clogs. Start by sprinkling baking soda over affected area and leave it to sit for about 30 minutes. Once the baking soda has had a chance to do its magic, vacuum or brush away. This should help remove any lingering odors.
Once you’ve successfully cleaned your clogs, allow them to dry completely before wearing. This will prevent any dirt and bacteria from getting trapped inside the clog. Additionally, be sure to spray them down with a disinfectant spray on a regular basis to keep them fresh and sanitized.
