Step 1: Remove Excess Debris

The initial step in removing feces stains is to remove any solid matter that may still remain on the surface of the fabric. Gently scrape off excess solids using a spoon or other flat, blunt object. The goal here is to make sure that any loose pieces of matter have been completely removed from the fabric before any further action is taken.

Step 2: Pre-Treat the Stain

Once the majority of waste has been removed, create a solution of one part mild detergent and two parts water. Submerge a sponge into the water-detergent solution and lightly blot at the stain. Allow the pre-treatment solution to set for a few minutes before continuing.

Step 3: Rinse and Wash the Fabric

The next step is to rinse the fabric with clean, plain water. Blot area with a damp cloth until the majority of detergent has been removed. After rinsing, place the fabric in a washing machine and launder as normal. For best results, use cold water and avoid dryer sheets or fabric softeners. After washing, allow the fabric to air dry.
