What You Need

  • Old cloth/towel
  • Mild detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Cold water
  • Large bucket

Step 1: Blot the Stain with an Old Cloth/Towel

Gently blot the area affected by the feces stain with an old cloth/towel. Do not rub as this will only worsen the stain. Once you have blotted up as much of the stain as possible, rinse cloth/towel in cold water and wring out the excess.

Step 2: Create a Solution of Mild Detergent and White Vinegar

In a large bucket, create a solution of mild detergent and white vinegar. Mix together 1 tablespoon of mild detergent with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 3 cups of cold water. Once the mixture is ready, submerge your button-down shirt into the bucket and allow it to soak for 15-20 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse the Shirt in Cold Water

Once the shirt has soaked for allotted time, remove it from the bucket and rinse it in cold water. Pay close attention to the area affected by the feces stain to ensure stain has been removed. If it has not, repeat the steps above until the stain is gone.

Step 4: Air Dry or Use Lowest Heat Setting on your Dryer

Once the shirt is clean, air dry or use the lowest heat setting on your dryer. Do not use a higher heat setting as this may set the stain into the fabric.
