Start by combining 2 parts cold water and 1 part white vinegar and gently soaking the stained portion of your Battenberg lace for about an hour. This will help loosen up the fecal matter stuck to the delicate fabric. Once you've finished with the pretreatment, rinse it in cold water.
Fill a sink with lukewarm (not hot!) water and add 1-2 tablespoons of mild laundry detergent. Gently swish the Battenberg lace around and let it soak for 30-45 minutes. After that, give it a gentle squeeze and rinse it in cold water.
Now that you've softening the stain and removed most of the fecal matter, you can use a specialized stain remover or enzyme pre-treatment spray to finish off the cleaning process. Spray directly onto the stain and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it in cold water and laying it out flat to dry.
