Fecal stains can occur from a number of sources, from diaper accidents to spills from pet feces. Fecal matter is composed of both liquid and solid waste, and can quickly seep into fabrics, leaving behind a difficult-to-remove stain.
When it comes to dealing with fecal stains on Ann Taylor clothing, it is important to act quickly. The first step is to remove as much of the excess solids as possible without brushing them deeper into the fabric. After that, soak the item in cold water for 15 minutes or so, preferably overnight if possible. This will help to break down the remaining mess.
Once finished soaking, apply some laundry detergent directly onto the stain, and gently rub it in with your fingertips to create a lather. Let the detergent sit for 10 minutes before rinsing it out with cold water. Repeat this process until the stain is gone.
When the stain is removed, put the garment in the washer, and use warmest setting possible. Dry the garment according to the care instructions. Ironing can also be used to remove any remaining stain.
