Step 1: Scrape off Solid Matter

The first step is to scrape off the solid matter with a spoon or butter knife. Be sure not to push too hard, as this can make the stain worse. Additionally, be sure to wear gloves and an apron during this process.

Step 2: Blot with a Clean Paper Towel

Once solid matter has been scraped away, use either a dry or damp clean paper towel to carefully blot area, working your way from the outside to the middle of the stain. Be sure not to rub the area, as this could cause stain to spread further.

Step 3: Wet the Area with Vinegar Solution

Mix white vinegar with cold water and lightly wet the stained area. Let the solution sit on the stain for at least 20 minutes. The vinegar will help to loosen the stain and make it easier to remove.

Step 4: Blot with a Clean Paper Towel Again

Once the stain has had time to absorb the vinegar solution, use either a dry or damp clean paper towel to gently remove any remaining liquid from the stain. Be sure to work from the outside to the middle of the stain.

Step 5: Apply Detergent or Pre-Treater

If the stain persists, add a small amount of detergent or pre-treater directly onto the stain and let sit for about 10 minutes. Once again, use either a dry or damp clean paper towel to gently blot the remaining liquid from the stain, being careful not to rub the area.

Step 6: Launder Item

Finally, launder item according to manufacturer's instructions. If stain persists, repeat steps 4 and 5 before laundering a second time.
