Using a spoon or butter knife, scrape up as much of the debris as possible. Make sure to scrape gently; scrubbing too hard might cause the particles to break apart, making them more difficult to remove. If possible, try to scrape off any solid pieces to minimize the amount of moisture that will need to be removed.
Fill a bucket or sink with warm water and add a mild detergent. Let the soiled garment soak for 15-20 minutes. Make sure the water is not too hot, as it may cause the fabric to shrink. After soaking, gently agitate the fabric in the liquid. This movement should help break up the remaining particles and help them dissolve in the water.
Once garment has soaked, rinse it thoroughly. If the stain persists, repeat the steps above until the stain has been removed. Be sure to check the garment after each cycle to ensure the stain is no longer visible.
Once all particles have been removed, you’ll want to wash garment in hot water with a high-quality detergent. The heat from the water will help kill bacteria and eliminate any odor that may still be present. Follow the instructions for laundering your activewear and dry on low heat to complete the process.
