What You’ll Need
- A washing machine
- Laundry detergent
- Borax
- White vinegar
- Hydrogen peroxide
Instructions
- Before you begin washing process, pretreat the stain by blotting it with a paper towel. Make sure to not rub the stain in further.
- Mix together 1 teaspoon of laundry detergent, 1 teaspoon of borax, ½ teaspoon of white vinegar and 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide in a bowl.
- Apply cleaning solution to the stained area and let stand for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, rinse off solution with cold water.
- Wash abaya in your washing machine on the delicate cycle with cold water. Do not use hot water as this may cause the stain to become permanent.
- When the cycle is done, hang the garment to air dry. Do not use a clothes dryer as the heat may set the stain.
Tips
- Avoid using any type of bleach when treating the stain. This can damage the fabric of the abaya.
- If the stain persists, repeat Steps 1-5 until it is gone.
- If abaya is made from silk, substitute the hydrogen peroxide for cold water.
