Using Vinegar and Baking Soda

One of the most reliable methods for removing feces from clothing and other fabrics is soaking in a solution of vinegar and baking soda. To make this solution, combine one cup of white vinegar and one cup of baking soda in warm water.

Soak the stained item for thirty minutes, then rinse thoroughly and wash as usual. If the stain is particularly stubborn, use a soft-bristled brush to scrub it before rinsing and washing. This method should not be used on or near leather.

Washing Machine

If the feces stain is on an item that can be safely put in the washing machine, you can use either a sparkle pollution remover or a biological laundry detergent. For even better results, use a prewash detergent before running the regular washing cycle.

Make sure to select a high temperature setting for the washing cycle, and check for any remaining residue after the washing is finished. If there is still some residue left, repeat the process.

Using Oxidizing Agents

Oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide, chlorine bleach, and peroxygen can also be used to remove feces stains. Before using any of these agents, test them on an inconspicuous area to make sure they won’t discolor the fabric. Mix oxidizing agent with water, and apply it directly onto the stain.

Leave it for about an hour, and then rinse and wash as usual. If stain persists, you can try repeating the process, but make sure not to leave the oxidizing agent on fabric for too long.

Enzymatic Cleaners

Enzymatic cleaners such as Bio-Gone are also suitable for removing feces stains. These cleaners work by breaking down proteins and lipids, so all you have to do is follow the instructions on the product’s packaging.

Usually, all you have to do is sprinkle a small amount of the product onto the stain and wait. Leave it until the stain is completely gone, then rinse and wash as usual.
