Dish Detergent and Water

Dish detergent and water is a simple but effective way to get rid of eye shadow stains on your camping gear. Start by creating a mixture of equal parts warm water and dish detergent. Dip a cloth into solution, then use it to scrub away the stain. Use a cotton swab to get into any crevices or hard-to-reach spots. Once the stain is gone, rinse the area with clean water to make sure all traces of the detergent are gone.

Baking Soda and Water Paste

If dish detergent doesn’t do trick, try using a paste of baking soda and water instead. Simply mix the two ingredients together until you have a thick paste. Apply the paste directly to the stained area, then let it sit for about an hour. After that, use a soft cloth to scrub away the paste and the stain. Rinse with clean water to remove all traces of the paste.

Vinegar and Baking Soda

If you need a little extra oomph to get rid of those eye shadow stains, try using vinegar and baking soda mixed together. Mix the two ingredients in a bowl until you have a paste-like consistency. Spread the paste onto the stained area, then let it sit for 30 minutes or so. After it has had a chance to work its magic, scrub away paste with a damp cloth. Rinse the area with clean water once you’ve finished.

Rubbing Alcohol

Isopropyl rubbing alcohol can also help you tackle pesky eye shadow stains. Start by dabbing the stained area with a cotton pad soaked in rubbing alcohol. Once the stain is gone, use a baby wipe or damp cloth to remove any excess rubbing alcohol from the fabric.

Goo Gone

Goo Gone is an efficient spot cleaner for eye shadow stains. Before using it, be sure to test it on an inconspicuous spot first to make sure it won’t cause any damage to the fabric. Once you’ve determined that it’s safe to use, apply a small amount directly to the affected area. Scrub away the stain with a damp cloth, then wipe away the residue with a dry cloth.

Prevention Tips

Make sure to keep any cosmetics stored away and out of reach of small children while camping. Also, be mindful to keep any makeup removed from your skin and away from fabrics before packing up and heading home. Doing so will help to avoid dealing with eye shadow stains in the future!
