The first step to getting pristine sundress back is pretreating the stain. Pretreating will help break down the stain so it can be washed away more easily. To do this, use a mixture of warm water and a gentle detergent, such as a a baby-safe detergent. Soak the stained area for about 10 minutes in this mix, then gently rub the stain with a soft cloth. Rinse thoroughly.
Next, machine washing is the best way to remove the stain from your sundress. Be sure to use cold water and a gentle cycle. If you want extra cleaning power, add a tablespoon of white vinegar along with the detergent. For extra stain-fighting power, you can also add a tablespoon of baking soda. After washing, always check the stain before putting the sundress in dryer. If stain is still visible, repeat pretreating steps before washing again.
In some cases, you may need to use a specialized stain remover to fully get rid of the eye shadow. If this is the case, spot test a small, inconspicuous area of the sundress to make sure there won't be any discoloration from the stain remover. If it is safe to use, follow the instructions on stain remover package.
Now that you know how to get rid of eye shadow stains from your sundress, you can have perfect sundress all summer long. With the right pretreating and washing techniques, you can easily keep your blemish-free sundresses looking stunning.
