The first step is to blot stain with a sponge or cloth to absorb as much of the eye shadow as possible. Make sure to use a dry, clean cloth and blot gently - do not rub or scrub as this may cause the stain to spread or become more embedded in the fabric.
Mix together a solution of hot water and a few drops of liquid laundry detergent. Use a separate cloth to dab the solution onto the stained area, making sure not to rub or scrub. Let the pre-treatment sit for a few minutes before moving on to the next step.
Mix together a paste of baking soda and water and apply it directly to the stained area. Using an old toothbrush, scrub paste into the fabric in a circular motion. Let the paste sit for several minutes before rinsing it off.
Once you have finished scrubbing, rinse area with cold water. If necessary, repeat steps 3 and 4 until the stain has been removed.
Once the stain has been removed, treat the area with white vinegar to prevent the stain from setting. Use a cloth or sponge to dab the vinegar onto the fabric and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing.
After treating area with vinegar, wash the socks in the washing machine according to the manufacturer's instructions. Ensure that the cycle is set to cold water to prevent the stain from setting.
