Removing Eye Shadow Stains from Your Shoes: 5 Steps to Follow
- Gather your supplies. You’ll need a soft brush, shoe cleaner, an old toothbrush, rubbing alcohol, a white cloth and some warm water.
- Brush away dry bits of eye shadow. Using a soft brush, try to brush away as much of the dry eye shadow as you can. Make sure to be very gentle in order to avoid scratching the sneaker.
- Apply the cleaning solution. Take a small amount of shoe cleaner and mix it with warm water, then apply the solution to the stain using either an old toothbrush or a white cloth. Work in a circular motion and let the cleaner sit for several minutes.
- Rinse. After a few minutes have passed, take a white cloth and dampen it with warm water. Gently wipe away the cleaning solution. If stain persists, repeat steps 2-4.
- Try rubbing alcohol. If the stain still remains after you rinse cleaning solution off, take a cotton ball dipped in rubbing alcohol, dab it gently onto the stain, and let it sit for a few minutes. Then take a clean cloth dampened with warm water and use it to wipe away rubbing alcohol. Repeat this step until the stain is gone.
Tips for Maintaining Your SneakErs
- Keep your sneakers in a cool and dry place — preferably in a shoebox. If you want to keep your sneakers in top shape for as long as possible, make sure to store them in a cool, dark place, such as a closet or a storage box.
- Wipe your sneakers down with a damp cloth after every wear. Wiping down your sneakers with a damp cloth after every wear will help keep them free of dirt, dust and other debris.
- Stuff your sneakers with an old pair of socks when not in use. This helps the sneaker retain its shape while also absorbing moisture.
- Treat your sneakers with special shoe cleaner. Regularly treating your sneakers with special shoe cleaners will help keep them looking like new.
