Eye shadow stains on fabric surfaces can be a real menace, but don’t worry—you don’t necessarily have to buy a replacement pair of slippers. Try these five simple steps to lift away or even completely remove those unwanted smears.
Start by first dipping a cotton ball or pad in rubbing alcohol and then lightly dabbing it on the stained area. Do this gently and be sure not to rub too hard as friction can further damage the fabric. If the stain is delicate, use a wooden skewer to help spread the rubbing alcohol evenly.
Mix together a paste by combining water and a small amount of dishwashing liquid. Then, apply the mixture to stain. Leave it on for 10 minutes before proceeding.
After the paste has been given an opportunity to sit, spread a thin layer of mild fabric detergent over the stain. Allow it to remain in place for another 10 minutes.
Now, rinse the affected area with warm water. You can even use a toothbrush to scrub the stain more effectively. Once finished, pat the slipper dry with an absorbent cloth.
If the stain still refuses to budge, repeat steps one through four again. This time, also try adding some ammonia to detergent. Use only a few drops at a time and mix well with the detergent before applying.
Follow the above steps, and you should be able to easily clean away eye shadow stains from your beloved slippers. It may take a bit of effort and patience, but the results are worth it. Now you can look forward to getting your sparkle on once again without worrying about any pesky smudges.
