No matter how careful you may be, accidents do happen. If you’ve managed to get an eye shadow stain on a favorite piece of clothing, there are some tricks you can use to help get it out. The method you use will depend mostly on the type of fabric, but here is a general guide for how to remove eye shadow stains from Ralph Lauren clothing.

Step 1: Identify the Fabric Type

The method you use to remove eye shadow stain will depend on the type of clothing fabric. Is it cotton, linen, silk, wool, polyester, or something else? Check the tags on your item of clothing to identify the fabric and look up specific instructions on how to handle it.

Step 2: Prepare Stain Remover Solution

Once you know what fabric you're dealing with, you can mix together a stain remover solution that will help lift eye shadow out of the fabric. Here are some helpful recipes:

  • For cotton: Mix one tablespoon of dishwashing detergent with two cups of warm water.
  • For silk: Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar and one teaspoon of liquid hand soap in two cups of cold water.
  • For wool: Mix one tablespoon of wool-safe detergent in two cups of lukewarm water.

Step 3: Treat the Stain

Now that you’ve prepared the cleaning solution, pour it onto a clean cloth and gently dab at the eye shadow stain until it starts to come out. If necessary, use an old toothbrush to scrub away the stubborn areas of stain. Once it’s been lifted, rinse the area with cold water and let it air dry.

Step 4: Treat Any Residue

In some cases, there may be some residue left behind after the cleaning solution has done its job. If this happens, dab a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a fresh cloth and blot at the remaining stain. Be sure to rinse the area again with cold water and let fabric dry before wearing.
