Materials Needed

  • Mild detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Clean, white cloths
  • Baking soda

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Start by blotting the stain with a white cloth or cotton ball to remove any excess eye shadow. Do not rub as this could spread the stain further.

Step 2: Pre-Treat the Stain

Mix 1 tablespoon of white vinegar with 2 tablespoons of mild detergent and 1 cup of warm water. Dip a clean white cloth into the mixture and gently rub the stained area. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water.

Step 3: Sprinkle Baking Soda

Sprinkle baking soda generously over the stained area and let it sit for 15 minutes. This will help absorb any remaining oil from the eye shadow.

Step 4: Wash the Pillowcase

Wash the pillowcase according to the instructions on the label. You may need to do this step twice to completely remove the stain.

Step 5: Dry Pillowcase

Once pillowcase is washed, make sure to dry it thoroughly. The easiest way is to hang it in the sun or use a tumble dryer.

Additional Tips

  • Always test a small, hidden area of fabric before pre-treating any stains.
  • For stubborn stains, use an oxygen-based stain remover.
  • Keep your eye shadow containers closed tightly to reduce the risk of spilling.
