The first thing you want to do is scrape off any excess eye shadow with a soft cloth or paper towel. Do this gently but firmly to remove as much of the shadow as possible. Be sure not to use anything too abrasive as it could damage the material of your mule.
Next, you'll need to pre-treat area with a stain removal product. Apply enough to cover the entire stain and allow it to sit for about 5 minutes before blotting it up with a paper towel. This will help to lift the stain and make it easier to clean.
Fill a sink or bucket with lukewarm water and add a small amount of laundry detergent. Soak the stained area of mule in the solution for 10 - 15 minutes, then rinse with cold water. This will help to further break down any remaining eye shadow residue.
Place mule in the washing machine with a mild detergent and run on a gentle cycle. Allow the mule to line dry.
Once the mules are completely dry, use a handheld vacuum cleaner to remove any excess dirt or debris that may have been left behind. Make sure to get into all the nooks and crannies to ensure they're completely clean.
