The first step to cleaning an eye shadow stain off of a kimono is to gently dampen the area that is stained with a clean, damp cloth. Do not soak the affected area, but merely press the cloth against the area to wet it.
Once the area is dampened, sprinkle a bit of powdered makeup remover or laundry detergent onto the stained area. Be sure to use a product that specifically states it is safe for use on delicate fabrics. Use your fingers to lightly rub the powder into fabric.
After you have taken care to incorporate the powder into the fabric, re-wet the stained area with the damp cloth. Gently work the material with your fingers as if you were washing it, but avoid scrubbing too hard so as to not damage the fabric.
Once you have finished washing the kimono, rinse the area with a clean damp cloth to ensure that all traces of the powder and the stain have been removed. If necessary, repeat steps 2-4 until the stain is removed.
Once the stain has been removed, hang the kimono to dry. Avoid placing it directly in sunlight, as this can cause discoloration of the fabric.
