When you're rushing around and need to get ready in a hurry, it's easy to apply your eye make-up without really thinking about it. And then you might realise too late that some of your beloved eye shadow has made its way onto your jumper!

What You'll Need

Before you start tackling stain, make sure you have all the items you'll need to hand. You'll need:

  • An old toothbrush
  • Mild detergent
  • Warm water
  • Lemon juice or white vinegar
  • Absorbent towels

Removing the Stain

Start by blotting the stain with a dampened absorbent towel. Do not rub stain as this can spread eye shadow and set the stain further.

Next, use your old toothbrush and dab at the stain in a light and gentle motion. This will help to loosen the stain.

Once the stain is loosened, create a mixture of warm water and mild detergent and soak the stained area of the jumper. Allow it to sit for 30 minutes before rinsing with clean, warm water and patting dry with an absorbent towel.

If the stain persists, mix lemon juice or white vinegar with warm water and soak again for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water and blot dry.

If the stain is still present, you may have to resort to using a special stain remover designed for removing make-up from clothes.

Drying and Finishing Off

Finally, once the stain has been removed, hang jumper up to dry - never use a tumble dryer as this can set the stain further.

And that's it - you should now have a stain-free jumper!
