Eye shadows come in a variety of different types including cream, powder, and gel. Each of these has different properties, and how you clean them will depend on which type you’ve got. If you can tell what type it is, you can make sure to use right cleaning method.
Start by blotting the stain with a damp cloth or paper towel. Don’t rub or scrub stain, as this may cause it to spread. Blot from the outside edges of the stain towards the center, using a light touch.
You may need to pre-treat the stain depending on its type and severity. Powdered eye shadows can be treated with rubbing alcohol, while cream and gel formulas may require more specialized cleaners. Test any cleaner you use on a small, hidden area before treating the stain directly.
Wash the stained area with a mild laundry detergent, following the care instructions on the item’s label. Rinse the item with cool water and repeat if necessary. Once finished, air-dry item, or tumble dry on a low setting if allowed.
If any stains remain after washing, treat them with laundry detergent or a specialty product like OxiClean. Let the treatment sit for a few minutes, then wash the item again as directed.
Eye shadow stains can be a nuisance, but with the right techniques they’re easily removable. Whether your stains are powdered, cream, or gel-based, follow steps above to quickly and efficiently get your jacquard items back to looking their best.
