We all know that down jackets have the power to turn any outfit from drab to fab. But what do you do when your favorite winter go-to is feeling anything but fab due to eye shadow stains? Follow these steps and it’ll be as good as new in no time!
Step 1: Test care label. Always read the care label on the inside your down jacket before attempting to remove a stain. Check to make sure that the care instructions do not conflict with any of the methods listed below.
Step 2: Spot clean the eye shadow stain. Begin by blotting the stained area with a damp cloth to remove any excess residue. Take a soft bristled brush and gently work a small amount of detergent or shampoo into the stained area. Be careful not to rub too hard as this may cause the fabric to snag or tear.
Step 3: Rinse and repeat. Use a soft bristled brush to gently scrub away the detergent or shampoo. Rinse the area with lukewarm water. Repeat process if necessary.
Step 4: Air dry. Let your down jacket air dry in a warm area away from direct sunlight. Do not use a blowdryer as this will most likely shrink your jacket.
Step 5: Take extra precautions. For best results, take your down jacket to a dry cleaner or have it professionally treated.
