To start, take off your coat and lay it flat. Grab a damp cloth and carefully dab over the area with stain. Make sure you are gentle, as you don’t want to spread the stain or damage the fabric.
Next, apply a small amount of laundry detergent onto the affected area. Gently rub the detergent into the stain in a circular motion. Make sure you are careful not to damage the fabric. Once you are done, allow the detergent to sit on the stain for a few minutes before rinsing off with warm water.
After the detergent has been rinsed off, take a dry cloth and dab the soapy area until the majority of the water is gone. Now you can put your coat in the washing machine. Make sure you set the washer to the gentlest cycle and wash with cold water. Add a color-safe detergent and ½ cup of distilled white vinegar to the load. Once cycle is complete, hang your coat to dry.
If stain still doesn’t come out after washing, try applying a stain remover. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then wash the coat once more. Hang it to dry, and your coat should be back to its original condition!
