The items you need to remove an eye shadow stain from your cardigan may already be in your home:
Start by gently brushing away any excess eye shadow from the fabric. Use the soft-bristled brush to loosen and lift the eye shadow out of the fabric's fibers. Carefully brush the fabric in all directions until most of eye shadow has been removed.
Using the old toothbrush or sponge, one that you don't mind getting stained, apply a small amount of stain remover directly onto the area with the eye shadow stain. Make sure to follow the instructions listed on the product label; some stain removers will need to be applied and left on for a few minutes before they can be washed off.
While the stain remover is still wet, take the old toothbrush or sponge and scrub the stained area. Start lightly and apply more pressure as needed. Don't scrub too hard as you could damage the fabric. Keep scrubbing until stain starts to fade.
Once stain has faded, rinse the fabric with warm water. If the stain isn't completely gone, repeat this step until it is.
Once the stain has been removed, wash the cardigan as normal. Use a mild detergent and cold water. Hang the cardigan to dry, but avoid direct sunlight as that could cause the color to fade.
Removing eye shadow from clothing can be a little tricky, but it is manageable. With right materials and proper technique, you can easily restore your cardigan to its former glory.
