Eye shadow stains can be difficult to remove, particularly if it’s been on boxer for a long period of time. First, it’s best to try and remove the stain as soon as possible, preferably before washing. The faster you act the less chance of the stain setting permanently into the fabric.

Instructions on removing eye shadow stains

  • Start by brushing off any excess powder from the area. Using a damp cloth, lightly dab at the stain to help lift away any remaining eye shadow.
  • Once much of the stain has been removed, it is time to apply a cleaning solution that breaks up the stain. Create a mixture of warm water and liquid detergent and lightly dab at the stained area. Scour gently until stain begins to lift out of the fabric.
  • If stain remains after using the liquid detergent, try using white vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. Both have properties that help break down and lift out tough stains.

Once the stain is removed, you should then machine wash the boxers at a normal cycle. Allow the machine to run its normal setting and use the normal amount of laundry detergent. Do not add any fabric softener as this could cause the stain to set even further.

What to avoid when cleaning stains

It's important to keep in mind that some ingredients used to remove eye shadow stains can damage boxer. Avoid using bleach or other harsh chemicals. Also, never rub the stain with a brush or any other abrasive tool as this could permanently discolor the fabric. As a rule of thumb, always keep it simple with a mixture of water and liquid detergent.
