The first step is to blot up as much of the eye shadow as possible with a paper towel. For good results, use a damp paper towel to help absorb the eye shadow. Don’t rub the stain vigorously, as this could cause the eye shadow to spread and make the stain worse.
Mix 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid with 1 cup of warm water. Stir solution until it is sudsy. Dip a clean cloth into solution and wring it out so that it is damp but not dripping wet.
Using the damp cloth, gently blot the stained area. Don’t rub it as this could make the stain larger. Continue to blot until all eye shadow has been removed.
Rinse the area with clean warm water. You may need to repeat Steps 2 – 4 several times in order to completely remove the stain.
Blot the area dry with a clean cloth. Allow the area to air dry completely.
With a few simple steps, you can successfully remove eye shadow stains from carpets and rugs. The key is to be patient and not to rub stain too vigorously as this could cause eye shadow to spread.
