Diaper stains on any fabric can be formidable but removing them from shearling is a trickier challenge. If you're dealing with a diaper stain on your shearling item, never fear: it's possible to get rid of the stain without damaging the fabric. All you need are some basic supplies, a bit of patience and a few simple steps.

What You'll Need

  • A spot-cleaning solution designed specifically for shearling
  • A clean soft cloth or rag
  • A brush
  • An old toothbrush
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Hairdryer

How to Clean Diaper Stains from Shearling

  1. Blot the area with the soft cloth to remove any excess wetness. Do not scrub the stain, as this will only spread molecules deeper into fabric.
  2. Spray the affected area with shearling cleaner. Allow the cleaner to sit for a few minutes.
  3. Using the brush, gently rub the stained area.
  4. Take an old toothbrush and dip it into distilled white vinegar. Use this mixture to scrub the area.
  5. Rinse the area with clean water and blot it dry with a clean cloth.
  6. Once the item is mostly dry, use a hairdryer on a low setting and blow the area until it is completely dry.

Once the above steps are complete, your shearling item should be free of diaper stains. For best results, we recommend applying a waterproofing spray to the area so that it is better protected against future staining.
