What You'll Need

  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Water
  • White vinegar
  • Soft cloth or sponge
  • Dry towel

Instructions

  1. Remove any excess solid matter by scraping it off with edge of a spoon or butter knife.
  2. Mix one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid in one cup of lukewarm water.
  3. Using a soft cloth or sponge, gently apply soapy mixture to the stained area. Take care to not rub harshly, as this could damage the delicate fabric.
  4. Rinse the area with clean water, then blot the stained area with a dry towel to remove excess moisture.
  5. Apply a small amount of white vinegar to the stain and let it sit for twenty minutes.
  6. Rinse the area with clean water, then again blot with a dry towel to remove excess moisture.

Tips and Warnings

  • Do not put rosepoint lace into the washing machine, as the fabric may fray or tear.
  • Do not scrub the stained area; use gentle motions to prevent damaging the delicate lace.
  • Be sure to rinse the area thoroughly after applying the soapy or vinegar solutions; any residue left behind could discolor fabric.
