Before you begin cleaning, gather and prepare following materials: a medium brush; a bleach-based detergent; white vinegar and water mix (1/4 cup of vinegar to 1/3 cup of water); a soft cloth; and a plastic bucket or bowl.
Take the medium brush and use it to buff off any excess material from the raincoat’s surface. Use an up and down motion with the brush, rather than a side-to-side motion, so that the dirt and fabric fibers are removed effectively.
Mix the bleach-based detergent with some water, and then apply mixture to the stained area of the raincoat. Leave it on the stain for at least 30 minutes, or as long as necessary depending on severity of the staining.
When the detergent has done its work, rinse raincoat with the vinegar and water mixture, using the cloth to rub it into the fabric in a circular motion.
Once you have finished rinsing the raincoat, hang it up and allow it to air dry. When the raincoat has completely dried, check the stained area and make sure the stain has been removed.
If stain has not been completely removed after one go, repeat steps 2 to 5 until the stain is gone.
By following these steps, you should be able to clean diaper stains from your raincoat with relative ease. Just be sure to read the instructions on your detergent carefully and pay close attention to amount of time you need to leave the detergent on the stain before rinsing!
