When cleaning diaper stains on poplin fabric, the first step is to address any fresh spills as soon as possible. Grab a dry towel or napkin and gently press against the stained area to absorb any liquid. Blot lightly and avoid rubbing so that the fabric fibers don't get damaged.
To get rid of heavy, older stains, you'll need to pre-treat them with a stain remover. If you're using a commercial product, always follow the instructions on the label carefully. Alternatively, you can make your own pre-treatment solution by mixing together a tablespoon of dish soap, a tablespoon of white vinegar, and two cups of warm water. Apply it directly to stain with a clean cloth and let it soak for a few minutes before rinsing with cold water.
Once you've pre-treated the stain, you can move on to washing. Always check the fabric tag first to ensure you use the right detergent and settings. Generally, poplin fabric should be washed in cold water on a gentle cycle. Try adding a cup of white vinegar to the wash to help remove any remaining residue. Hang the fabric up to air dry after the cycle is finished, and voilà – fresh, clean fabric!
