Polyester is a popular fabric used to make a variety of clothing and bedding items, but it can also be challenging to clean when a diaper leak or other accident occurs. But with a few simple steps, you can easily remove diaper stains from polyester fabric and get back to enjoying your favorite garments and linens.
Before beginning any cleaning process, it's important to blot up as much of liquid as possible. Use a clean white cloth or paper towels and press gently against the stain. Do not rub or scrub at the stain, as this can cause the fabric to pill or stretch.
Once you've blotted away excess moisture, it's time to pre-treat the stain. Begin by creating a cleaning solution of laundry detergent and water, mixing one tablespoon of detergent per cup of warm water. Dip a clean cloth or sponge into the solution and dab stained area. Allow the solution to stand on the stain for five to 10 minutes.
Once the pre-treatment has had time to work, use a clean cloth and cool water to blot away the detergent. Continue to rinse until the cloth comes away clean and the detergent is gone. If the stain persists, repeat steps 2 and 3 until the stain is removed.
If the stain is completely gone, machine wash the item as usual. Be sure to use the same detergent you used to pre-treat the stain, as different detergents can cause staining themselves. Follow the care instructions on the item and tumble dry on low.
By following these simple steps, you can effectively remove diaper stains from polyester fabric. Pre-treating the stain and washing the item as usual are key to the success of the cleaning process. And remember, if the stain persists after several attempts, it's always best to seek professional cleaning advice.
