The first step to removing diaper stains from panties is to pre-treat the stain as soon as possible. Pre-treating stain removes some of moisture and helps to prevent it from sinking deeper into the fabric. To pre-treat the stain, apply a small amount of laundry detergent or stain remover directly to the stain. Work it into the fabric gently before letting it sit for 5-10 minutes. If the stain is especially tough, you may want to use an old toothbrush to help work the detergent further into the fabric.
Once the pre-treatment has had a chance to set in for a few minutes, add stained panties to the washing machine and fill it with enough warm water to fully submerge the garment. Add laundry detergent, then start the wash cycle. If the stain is still there after the cycle is finished, run a second cycle or opt for a longer cycle with a higher water level.
Once the stained panties have been washed, it is time to dry them. Be sure to check panties before adding them to the dryer to make sure the stain is gone. If the stain is still there, repeat steps 1-2 until the stain is fully removed. Once the stain is gone, add panties to the dryer and dry garment on low heat.
For especially tough diaper stains, treatments like chlorine bleach may be necessary. If you decide to use chlorine bleach, be sure to check the garment's care label before proceeding to avoid any potential damage. You may also want to consider using a color-safe whitening agent, such as Borax, to help brighten fabric.
Cleaning diaper stains from panties doesn't have to be a daunting task. With the right steps and products, you can easily get those pesky stains out of your fabrics.
