What You'll Need

  • Water and mild detergent
  • Stiff brush
  • White vinegar or rubbing alcohol
  • Clean cloths

Step One: Rinse Soiled Area with Water

Hold the shoe under lukewarm water and rinse the soiled area thoroughly. This will help remove any loose particles, which will make it easier to manage the stain.

Step Two: Apply Detergent & Scrub Away

Mix a tablespoon of mild detergent with several cups of lukewarm water. Dip a stiff-bristled brush into the solution and gently scrub the stained area. Be careful not to scrub too hard or you could damage the fabric of your shoes.

Step Three: Apply Vinegar or Rubbing Alcohol

If the stain persists, try applying white vinegar or rubbing alcohol to the affected area. Dip a clean cloth in either substance and dab the area with light pressure. Let sit for several minutes before continuing.

Step Four: Rinse Shoes & Let Air Dry

Rinse the remaining detergent, vinegar, or rubbing alcohol from your shoes and allow them to air dry completely before using again.
