What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Liquid detergent
  • Soft-bristled brush
  • Sponge
  • Cloth

Step 1: Pre-Treat Stain

As with any stain removal process, pre-treating the stain is the first and most important step. For diaper stains, you'll need white vinegar. Pour some onto a cloth and gently dab at the stain. You may have to do this several times to fully remove the stain. If the stain is particularly stubborn, you may opt to use a spoonful of baking soda with vinegar.

Step 2: Washing Mules in the Machine

Once the pre-treatment has been done, you can wash the mules in the washing machine. Put them in a mesh laundry bag to ensure they don't get damaged during the washing process. Use a liquid detergent and set the machine to a gentle cycle. Whatever temperature you choose to wash the mules at, make sure it isn't too hot as this can damage the material.

Step 3: Scrubbing the Stain

Once the mules have been washed, turn them inside out and use a soft-bristled brush to scrub away any remaining stains. For tough stains, mix a tablespoon of liquid detergent with warm water and scrub the area with a sponge.

Step 4: Drying the Mules

The last step is to dry the mules. The best way to do this is to air dry them in the sun. This will help to remove any remaining odors from the diaper stain. Just make sure not to leave them in the sun for too long as this could damage fabric.
