Firstly, it is important to act quickly when dealing with diaper stains. The quicker you get to it, the easier the cleanup will be. Here are some of the steps you should take:

  • Begin by removing any solid chunks and throw it away.
  • Mix a solution of 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide and 1/2 teaspoon of dish detergent in 1 quart of warm water, then slowly pour it on the stained area.
  • Pat it with a clean, dry cloth and allow it to air dry.
  • If the stain persists, increase the amount of hydrogen peroxide, but use no more than ½ cup per quart of water.
  • For tougher stains, mix a tablespoon of ammonia or vinegar in the solution.
  • After scrubbing the area with a brush, you can use an upright vacuum to suck up remaining moisture.

If your mattress is still stained after all these steps, you may need to contact a professional cleaner. They use special chemicals to remove tough diaper stains, and it’s worth considering if all else fails.

Be sure to keep your mattress clean and spotless, and don’t forget to check the labels of your cleaning solutions before use to ensure they’re safe for your mattress.
